Acknowledgement of Federal Funding – Steven’s Amendment (Public Law 101-166, Section 511)
As part of the review process, all Local Workforce Development Agencies (LWDA) must acknowledge receipt of federal funding as identified under Steven’s Amendment, Public Law 101-166, Section 511.
The purpose of this requirement is to ensure transparency and accountability in federal spending. Recipients of U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) grants and cooperative agreements must acknowledge federal funding when publicly discussing any programs or projects supported with DOL’s annual appropriations.
Funding for the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) is provided in part by federal sources. Approximately 40.4% of MOED’s total budget, equivalent to $20 million, is financed through multiple federal funding streams, including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as funding from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and U.S. Department of Commerce. The remaining 59.6% of the budget is supported by nongovernmental sources
The list of US Federal Departments and table below outlines the estimated funding resources MOED expects to receive in support of its Local Workforce Development Services core programs, represented by both dollar amounts and percentages of total funding:
